Taipei Game Show 2010

Went to the annual Taipei Game Show today. It's on from Friday 2/6 to Tuesday 2/9, so I just reached it on it's first day. A bit late though. It's open from 10 am to 6 pm. As with the book exhibition last week, I arrived at 4 pm. Too late to try stuff. But still plenty of time to locate all the booths and take pictures of loads of stuff. Took 148 photos while there, which is almost half of what my camera can contain. And that's in just 2 hours. (I make it save a raw together with a JPEG, so total size per shot is usually about 22-23 megabyte. I could cut it down to 2-3 per shot by not saving raws, should I have to snap more when I'm going back.)

In this place there's many booths and several stages for different kinds of performance. Some of them they have turnaments. At others, you can just jump up on and get a brief instruction like this guy above is, and you're in a competition of some sort, competing for freebies.

Taipei 101

by Sander Tams 30. October 2009 17:43

That's the tallest building in the world just for your information.

Yeah, yesterday I went there to have a look at the city. Actually my home ma suggested we go there last Saturday but it was a rainy day so the view would probably be terrible.

Taipei 101 has different heights depending on how you want to count it. The antenna of it reaches up to 509 meter while the roof is at 449 meter. Although Burj Dubai reaches up 818 meter with it's spire, Taipei 101 still holds the title of the tallest building in the world since the definition requires the building to be finished and habitable. And again... even though Burj Dubai is probably going to finish in December and thus beat it, there's always Taipei 202. (Hey, Burj Dubai is just like a big spire really. Taipei 101 has ~30% more floor space than Burj Dubai actually.)

Nearby Taipei 101 is a bunch of other interesting buildings and stuff. This is apparently the place everyone has to take a picture with whenever they go here the first time. Oh just by the way: This is going to be a very tall post, but click more and read it anyway, ok? :) Iz taeken lotsa naic pohtos.

Mah Taiwanese Birthday

by Sander Tams 3. October 2009 17:23

OMG OMG! DING 18. Can has epic ground mount!!

So, it became my turn now. So prepare for asian craziness.

During all day in school, my classmates were drawing stuff and acting completely different. Normally they're supposed to have neat desks and sit completely straight, just listening to the teacher, but for some very obvious reason, they were allowed to not care so much about the education today. (Hey, so much special treatment... :S)

The day was actually almost as boring as usual - still bu dong zhong wen - but finally when it was 4pm (which is actually the time I usually leave school, but not today):

So for my birtday, I get a giant burger. They really hate cake and sugar here, huh?
Okay. It's actually a cake, of course. A pretty damn good lookalike.
