Eating seafood in Bali

by Sander Tams 9. October 2009 18:08

Today, I went a trip to the opposite border across the river from Danshuei. There, in Bali, we ate a bunch of seafood with Joni's rotary club.
Although before we started our fish gluttony in the evening (which was not super big although still more than usual), we went for a walk and ate other stuff by the harbor and later went to see Shi-san Hang Museum of Archaeology.

Danshuei is on the other side.

That's oyster omelette. I had one before already, but it was not really good, because the restaurant barely put any egg in it. This one was way better. Try it.

The long, yellow building on the other side is the Danshuei MRT station. That's where the Danshuei line ends, so if you stay on the MRT when you get there, you'll start driving back towards Xindian.

This is Anthromophorphic Jar. It is the icon for Shi-san Hang Museum of Archaeology, and so, has very special attention here.
I must say, it is actually a quite interesting piece.

Not as interesting as the fact that Einstein was actually a Taiwanese Aboriginee though.

Quite smart of me, not to put on a skirt that day.

Actually, I'm a little in doubt here. While the stuff inside actually is a little more interesting to me than most museum stuff, I'm still unsure if the most interesting part of this museum is actually the old relics they have for display or the architechture of the museum. Some day I get my photo/portal/thingy running, you can see some more of it.

Afterwards we took a walk by the beach.

The above picture can probably be used as a wallpaper, if people like that kind of view. It's quite an amazing sharpness I got there on that shot.

So finally. Here's some of the food. I decided to only take pictures of the foods I didn't take pictures of already. This is quite a special one that you cannot really get very easily since the restaurants usually never serves it inside Taipei.
It is fish stomach.
You didn't know fishes had stomaches thick enough for you to cut slices like this out of it? Me neither.

The restaurant we went to was located at a place that no-one would ever find if they didn't know it already, or lived right next to it. Still, they seemed to have a pretty good business. Probably because the food is so good there. I especially liked the oysters here.

Actually I ate mostly sashimi and octopus with soy sauce with very much wasabi in it. So much that I coughed once because of it. xD

After eating, we went to the hot spring Joni and I use to go to, which is very near the house in ShiPai. That's a long drive from the restaurant in Bali.

And so, they gals from the rotary club found a karaoke vending machine at the hot spring after everyone had some relaxation in the tubs there.

And that's how it ended. I'm sorry that not much epic and organized stuff happened that I could write about during this week, but at least a lot of random things seem to happen every time I get to the weekend.

I've been working on some software for my website so that I can easily display the ~4 GB and rapidly growing photos that I've taken during my stay, so maybe I'll throw a link when it's done, hopefully sometime soon.

Tomorrow I'm going to a barbeque with my classmates from KaiNan, let's see if I can make a more organised blogpost about that tomorrow.
Da Cha Zai Jian.
