The Four Gods Soup

Get the right guide and you might be introduced to some very strange foods in Taiwan.
After a day of car break-ins and troubling around with heavy luggage to set up for the country fair, Joni took me to this place near the center of Taipei. It's like a tiny oasis of almost no people, but if you walk just 20 meter away from where I was taking the picture above, you will get to a heavy trafficked road with lots of people and bustling night activity.

If you go to Taiwan for some time, you will notice that the locals like old stores on the street like this one very much. To a foreigner this probably looks a little too old and unprofessional to go and eat at, but the Taiwanese don't mind the appearance.
Above you see my dinner for that day: The Four Gods Soup.

Of course you can't get stuffed from just one little bowl of soup like this, so there's some delicious noodle here for you too. - Which is a very lucky thing, since the soups contents might be quite intimidating to the untrained.

The soup has 4 main ingredients. They're the four gods of the soup, and this is the first one: It is a little seed, tastes and feels a bit like saltless popcorn that has been dissolved in water. It's a quite different seed though.

The next god is more interesting. It is from a pig - so is all of the gods except for the seed. And this one is the bladder.

Don't worry. The bladder is not really bad, it's not much different from eating this: Pig's ovary.

This is the third god I'm presenting for you: Urinal tract. I am quite amazed to see that inside the tract is also a kind of meaty component. I must say this things texture is quite unique to anything I've eaten so far.

Finally, let's end the drumrolls. This is the male pig's sperm tract. I don't know which part of the system in particular, I didn't ask.

So, are you completely blown off of your chair now?
I can tell that I was not. At the time I got the dish, I had tried some pretty strange stuff already. Honestly, these organs were not too bad. They're way easier to get down than that goat meat I got the other day in my opinion. If you get the chance, you should try it. Especially because you will be able to tell people that you've eaten this strange stuff for the rest of your life and probably get a pretty nice reaction from some of them depending on where in the world you are.

Anyway, I'm going to prepare a mandarin speech for tomorrow. Wish me luck.
